SensorWake Smell-Based Alarm Clock

It’s been a while since we featured a Kickstarter appeal, but seeing as though this one could dictate just whether you have a good day or bad day we reckon it’s a pretty important one.

Nobody likes being woken up abruptly, sharply and loudly, but that is how most of us do start the day whether that be with alarm clock, phone alarms etc, and if you get off on the wrong foot there is a chance the rest of the day could follow suit.

Conceived and developed by French teenager Guillaume Rolland, the SensorWake Alarm Clock received recognition as one of the top 15 inventions ‘that can change the world’ at the 2014 Google Science Fair which is pretty high praise.
Just set this alarm clock just like you would your coffee maker, and when rise 'n' shine time comes, it will emit strong wafts of sweet smells to progressively wake you up.

Now we know what you must be thinking. Can a smell really wake you up on a morning? Well according to SensorWake, its patented technology releases just the right scent dosage through a diffusion system to wake 99 out of the 100 people they tested in under 2 minutes. And, the company continues, for the "1% with a stuffy nose" SensorWake also comes with a backup audio alarm that will sound after 3 minutes if you're still not awake.

The SensorWake kickoff scents will include two capsules in each pack, with each capsule having enough scent to wake you 60 times. Oh and don’t worry, all the scents are environmentally friendly, solvent free, and recyclable.

The list of the two-capsules packs available are as follows:

• Continental Breakfast: Espresso & Hot Croissant
• Candy Rush: Sweet Peach & Strawberry Candy
• Enjoy The Break: Seaside (monoi, tiare flower) & Lush Jungle (cut grass, leaves)
• Invigorating Aromatherapy: Purifying Tea Tree & Harmonious Chocolate
• Vitalization Aromatherapy: Stimulating Ginger & Invigorating Pepper Mint
• VIP lounge (for Kickstarter Backers only): Dollar & Ebony Luxury

Unsurprisingly this has caught the public's attention, and after only a week the SensorWake has been backed to the tidy total of €100,0000, which is doubled what was first asked for. Since then ‘Stretch Goals’ have now been added.
