American Made

Based on a true story, Tom Cruise stars as Barry Seal, a commercial airline pilot turned, turned drugs runner, turned government informer, who finds himself in charge of one of the biggest covert CIA operations in the history of the United States that nearly brings down the White House.

Guns.  Drugs.  Money laundering. That what’s all about.

Released by Universal Pictures American Made reunited Tom Cruise with his Edge of Tomorrow director, Doug Liman (also responsible for The Bourne Identity, Mr. and Mrs. Smith), with production amongst others Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, and Brian Oliver.

It tells the outrageous story of a regular family man working as a commercial airline pilot for TWA (now American Airlines) who gets tempted into a world of drug trafficking for a major Columbian drug cartel.  After flying billions of dollars worth of cocaine into the US, and enjoying the wealth that went with it he is eventually caught, but instead of going to prison he amazingly brokers a deal and starts to work with the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) and the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency), who controversially continues trafficking drugs and now arms, but is now an informer hoping to bring down Pablo Escobar and the whole of the Medellin Cartel. However things inevitably turn bad, and when the whole scheme is exposed (along with money laundering) it threatens to bring down President Ronald Reagan and the whole of the White House.
It sounds ridiculously far-fetched, but it is in fact a true story.

American Made also co-stars Domhnall Gleeson, Sarah Wright, E. Roger Mitchell, Jesse Plemons, Lola Kirke, Alejandro Edda, Benito Martinez, Caleb Landry Jones and Jayma Mays.

It is due for release on the 25th August, but take a look at the trailer below for what you can expect.
