It never quite has the same effect as the summer Olympics but with the list of pretty awesome events (Bobsleigh, Ice Hockey, Luge, Skeleton etc) we're really not sure why The Winter Olympics is being held in Sochi this year from 7-23 February, and we can't wait to see what the games will bring. I know that winter sports might not be our best chance of winners, but Team GB are very hopeful - watch out for Rowan Cheshire in the Ski Halfpipe and James Woods in the Ski Slopestyle.
In order to spice up the games, a total of 12 new events have been added to the list including Women's Ski Jump, Snowboard Slopestyle and Ski Halfpipe. Check out the full list of new events here and read below our favourite three to watch.
1. Ski Slopestyle Men's & Women's
Combining airs and tricks, the skiers will combat a course with rails and a variety of jumps and will be judged on technical difficulty, execution and use of the course.
2. Luge: Mixed Team Relay
The epic 'throw yourself down an ice slide' now features a mixed team of men and women.
3. Freestyle Skiing: Half Pipe
Each athlete will perform huge tricks, big jumps in the halfpipe whilst being judged on technicality, style, flow and execution.
It all sounds pretty darn good to us and we'll be watching and reporting along the way, so keep checking back to our blog for updates
