All the way from Chicago, Illinois, OK Go are back this autumn after a four-year hiatus with their latest album Hungry Ghosts. According to OK Go’s official website, Hungry Ghosts is due to hit stores October 17. The latest record by the electronic influenced alt-rock band is the first since the release of 2010's Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky, which spawned the singles ‘WTF?’ and ‘This Too Shall Pass’.
Following the four-song EP, which was dropped back in June of this year, the album will feature the immensely popular music video ‘The Writing’s On the Wall’, which won a VMA for best visual effects and had racked up over 1 million views within just one day. Not shy of considerable attention for their low-budget, high-creativity music videos, OK GO’s single ‘Here We Go Again’ gained viral status thanks to some serious treadmill running, paint splattered and car driving stunts.
Talking to The Harvard Crimson, bassist and vocalist Tim Nordwind admitted that the Hungry Ghosts record has “a much more electric, synthesized sound" but that “after 15 years of playing and recording together, we’ve managed to find a way to make that process feel fresh and new for us".
