Pharrell Williams has recently expanded his fashion empire and become the co-owner of Dutch denim label G Star Raw, the brand announced on February 9. The 'Happy' and 'Freedom' singer and notorious style pin-up is said to be "immersed in the company on many creative levels, from collections, to advertising and business strategy" according to a statement.
The company, based in Amsterdam and L.A., has received full backing from Pharrell. "G-Star is an independently minded and forward-thinking company. I believe they will be the definitive jeans brand of the 21st century. I am looking forward to be part of that mission and to co-create G-Star's future." Williams said in a statement.
The singer turned style icon is no newcomer to the fashion industry, having been involved a number of projects including co-founding the Japanese label Billionaire Boys Club and previously collaborating with G-Star to create Bionic Yarn, a collection which makes fabric from recycled ocean plastic.
