It's the day many Bridget Jones fans have been subconsciously waiting for, the release of the unexpected third instalment of Bridget Jones's Diary - Mad About the Boy. The first reviews are in and unfortunately, they're not that good. The first shocker is that our beloved Bridget has become - wait for it - a widow Yeah that's right, the story is set five years after our favourite human rights lawyer Mark Darcy has passed away.
Now a 51-year-old cougar and mother of two, Jones is dating a 30-year-old toy boy named Roxter after meeting him on Twitter. Questions about Darcy's death remain open throughout the novel until a flashback reveals the truth. When asked by critics why she would do such a thing, author Helen Fielding responded by saying: "The happy ending is just where you choose to end a book. Life, with all its twists and turns, carries on beyond it." We can't say much more than that... Mad About the Boy is available to purchase now.
