Up to one million tickets for Rugby World Cup 2015 are on sale in the UK and internationally until 18:00 (BST) on Monday 29 September, 2014. Ticket prices start at £15 for adults and £7 for children and will be available for 41 matches.
Tickets are available from the official Rugby World Cup 2015 ticketing website tickets.rugbyworldcup.com. An account is required in order to apply for tickets, of which the number is capped at 4 tickets per match. For 15 of the 48 fixtures each individual can apply for up to 15 tickets.
The tickets will not be sold on a first come, first served basis. Oversubscribed matches and price categories will go to ballot to guarantee fair distribution and fans will be advised of which tickets they have attained in October, 2014. Any remaining tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis from November.
A ‘traffic light’ indicator system on the site will advise which fixtures are receiving a lot of applications and are likely to go to ballot.
Three pool matches will be played at St James’ Park, Newcastle, starting with South Africa v Scotland on Saturday 3 October. World Champions New Zealand will take on Tonga on Friday 9 October, and the final game between Samoa and Scotland will be held on Saturday 10 October.
Rugby World Cup Limited Chairman Bernard Lapasset said: “With a little over a year to go, England 2015 promises to be a wonderful and record-breaking global celebration of Rugby in the host nation."
The tournament will see 20 of the world’s best teams compete for the sport’s ultimate prize – the Webb Ellis Cup. Rugby World Cup 2015 will be played across 13 venues in England, and in Cardiff at the Millennium Stadium, and commences on September 18, 2015 concluding with the final at Twickenham on October 31, 2015.
