Sony World Photography Awards 2015

Sony has just announced it’s National open category winners at the World Photography Awards, and as you might expect they are truly breathtaking.

Working across 54 countries, from Australia to Argentina, local juries were tasked to uncover and honour the best single image taken by a photographer from their country which had been entered into any of the ten Open categories of the 2015 Sony World Photography Awards.

The awards offer categories across all genres of photojournalism, fine art and commercial photography. The categories include: current affairs; nature & wildlife; arts & culture, portraiture; contemporary issues; sport; landscape; still life; lifestyle; architecture, and more.

The 2015 edition attracted over 173,000 entries from 171 countries. The overall winner will be announced on April 23rd.

In addition to cash prizes for the overall Professional and Open Photographers of the Year, category winners also receive the latest digital imaging equipment from Sony and Sony Mobile to help them continue their photographic journeys and many will be flown to London to attend the Sony World Photography Awards gala ceremony on 23rd April.

The images from all 54 National Awards will also be shown as part of the Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition at Somerset House, London from 24th April - 10th May.
