To celebrate its 100th anniversary, BMW have unveiled over the past few months a series of innovative concept vehicles dubbed ‘Vision Next 100’, that show how the companies products may well look like in another 100 years. Featuring BMW’s on two and four wheels, as well as offerings from the groups other main brands; Mini and Rolls Royce.

Unveiled at the “Iconic Impulses: The BMW Group Future Experience” exhibition in Los Angeles, a new progressive solution for the world of motorcycles has arrived in the form of the BMW Motorrad Vision Next 100. Designed to be the essence of motorcycling and a symbol of ultimate riding experience, the bike is said to be so safe that it liberates its rider from the need to wear a helmet and/or protective clothing so that they can be more exposed to the natural elements.

Inspired by the concept of being a perfect synthesis between human and machine, the design incorporates the most striking aspects of BMW Motorrad bikes throughout the ages; every detail is of the highest quality and features a contemporary twist in form and function. Powered by a zero-emission solution, the bike also serves as an eco-friendly alternative.

Key features include ‘Flexframe’, which allows the bike to be steered without the various joints found on today’s motorcycles - turning the handlebar adjusts the entire frame, changing the direction of the bike, and not to mention the self-balancing aspect of the bike - in certain situations, the active assistance systems of the future will also enhance stability and safety by automatically balancing the motorcycle, both out on the road and when stationary, which if adopted by all motorbikes would be a huge leap forward in road safety.

The sleek Motorrad also features a Powertrain power unit, analogue elements, a digital companion, and a information-gathering visor serve to introduce futuristic innovations to the minimalistic bike.
