The Magnificent Seven - Remake Trailer

Sony Pictures (Columbia Pictures) have just released the trailer for the remake of the 1960 American Western Film The Magnificent Seven (yes we are aware that that itself was also a remake of a 1954 film), and it’s already got people talking.

Director Antoine Fuqua brings his modern vision to a classic story in Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures’ and Columbia Pictures’ The Magnificent Seven. With the town of Rose Creek under the deadly control of industrialist Bartholomew Bogue, the desperate townspeople employ protection from seven outlaws, bounty hunters, gamblers and hired guns – Sam Chisolm, Josh Farraday, Goodnight Robicheaux, Jack Horne, Billy Rocks, Vasquez, and Red Harvest. As they prepare the town for the violent showdown that they know is coming, these seven mercenaries find themselves fighting for more than money.

With a cast that includes Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Peter Sarsgaard, and even our own Vinnie Jones it looks sets for greatness.

This might seem crazy but everyone involved in the film will actually be hoping it proves initially more successful than the 1960 release, which actually was met with mixed critical reviews, and was an American box office flop – it was only after its release in Europe that it turned a profit. It has however grown greatly in esteem over the years – partly due to a lot of the cast becoming ‘superstars’ such as Steve McQueen, Yul Brynner, Charles Bronson, Robert Vaughan, James Coburn etc – and it is now the second most shown film is US television history.

Due for release on Friday 23rd September you can watch the trailer below.
