Blade Runner 2049

LAPD Officer K, a new blade runner for the Los Angeles Police Department, unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what's left of society into chaos. His discovery leads him on a quest to find the former blade runner Rick Deckard who's been missing for 30 years.

In an age where studios rifle relentlessly through past films, searching pathetically for something to bring back, few sequels have caused as much excitement as Blade Runner 2049.

Three and a half decades after Ridley Scott’s original and iconic film, new director Denis Villeneuve is presenting his take, which is set 30 years after the events of the first movie and stars Ryan Gosling as a new blade runner searching for a missing Rick Deckard whom like in the original is played by Harrison Ford.

If anyone is qualified to pull this off, then it’s Villeneuve, who has successful releases Arrival, Prisoners, and Sicario under his belt. He’s also supported by Scott as executive producer and Roger Deakins as Director of Photography, so you can be sure that this movie will look the part.

It will have to go some though to best the 1982 original which was a huge box office hit, and over time became a sci-fi classic.  On a side note it is also in the top 20 list for the longest time taken to make a sequel, at 35 years 103 days.

You can watch the latest Warner Bros trailer below, and it’s hits the big screen on the 6th October.
