Dr Dre To Launch Music Streaming Service

Following on from the enormous success of his Beats by Dre headphones line, the doctor of hip-hop is set to launch his own music streaming service to rival Spotify.

The service, called Beats Music, will be launched worldwide in January 2014 with Trent Reznor, of Nine Inch Nails fame, as its chief creative officer.

Beats Music is set to feature ‘intelligent curation’, meaning playlists and recommendations will be made by real people based on what you’ve listened to and not algorithms as is currently the case with Spotify. It will be "like having your own guy when you go into the record store, who knows what you like but can also point you down some paths you wouldn't necessarily have encountered," Trent describes.
