However this could be a thing of the past thanks to Chicago based company SALT LLC who have developed a way to lock/unlock your phone without so much as a look.
According to statistics, we spend 52 hours a year entering pin numbers or passwords into out phone to unlock them. That’s 52 hours just to get into your phone, never mind the time we waste trawling Facebook and Twitter amongst other things!
Introducing the SALT keyless entry card – almost as thin as a credit card it works using Bluetooth to automatically unlock your phone within a 10ft range and vice versa locks it once you are over 10ft away. Simply enter the 12 digit code on the card into the app and pop the card in your wallet, that’s all there is to it.
As for security it uses a system that has 281 trillion combinations, that’s 2,810 times more secure than a standard 8 digit PIN code. And if your phone/device contains highly confidential data then you can even request the card to be present while entering a PIN for even more security.
