The 3DR Solo Drone

As with many popular inventions drones started life as a military project. Over the decades they have evolved in technology, size, uses, and now price.
Ok they still aren’t cheap enough that every man, women, and child will be having one just yet, but they are cheap enough for people with a keen interest.
The problem for the people that do own one though is that your investment in the latest technology is that typically it is only as good as your ability to handle it once it's aloft.
Countless times drones are lost into fields, and lakes, by poor handling or loss of range, any many more are damage by flying into buildings and other random objects.
Now a major use for drones as of late is to attach cameras to them to capture breathtaking, and previously unobtainable pictures, or to map areas, however this just added to anger and disappointment if one of the previously mentioned mishaps occurred.
There is now an answer to this problem.

3D Robotics have teamed up with GoPro, to design and make Solo - the first drone to offer complete control of your HERO3+ or HERO4 camera during flight. The new 3-axis gimbal delivers fluid HD video to your mobile device, offers in-flight recording control and access to GoPro settings—and oh yeah, it powers your GoPro, too.

The world's first smart drone now makes capturing professional aerial photos and video simple for experienced pilots and novices alike. Solo is powered by two 1GHz computers and offers many world-first technologies and a host of built-in safety and support features. This quadcopter comes with unique controls like push-button flight and computer assisted Smart Shots for the best and smoothest aerial photography experience imaginable.
The Solo is also the only drone to offer full remote-control of your GoPro at ranges of up to half a mile as well as live video streaming in vivid HD directly to your mobile device.

Solo’s video game-style controller will feel familiar the second you pick it up, even if you’ve never flown a drone, and offers unprecedented control of both the vehicle and camera at your fingertips.

Pushbutton commands put both camera and copter at your fingertips. Take off, land or instantly pause your flight midair with a single touch. Click to start and stop recording or snap a photo, even adjust camera angle while you fly, and there is also has a high-quality HDMI port directly from the controller so you can connect Solo to practically any screen you can think of.

The robust new Solo app (for iOS and Android) makes it easy to get the most out of Solo’s smart features. Stream live video to your mobile device and enjoy sophisticated camera and copter control, often with the push of a button.
