The Super Bowl Final Is Set

So late last night we learned who would contest Super Bowl XLIX. It will feature the Seattle Seahawks talking on the New England Patriots.

The Seahawks are the reigning Super Bowl Champions having beaten the Denver Broncos convincingly in last February’s final, however the prospect of them retaining the Vince Lombardi Trophy looked pretty distant when they trailed 16-0 at half time to the Green Bay Packers. However two touchdowns in a minute put them back in contention, and a 35-yard touchdown in overtime sealed their place in the final.

In yesterday’s other match the New England Patriots (who were the last team to win back to back Super Bowls coincidently) cruised past the Indianapolis Colts 45-7. Any hopes the Colts had of turning around a 17-7 half time deficit were ended emphatically in the opening period of the 3rd quarter when the Patriots scored touchdowns on their first four drives.

The 49th Final will take place at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on 1st February.

The final will see Quarterback Tom Brady compete in a record breaking 6th final, where he will be up against last seasons winning QB Russell Wilson.

It is estimated that approximately 70% (roughly 110-115 million) of the people watching tv in the US at the time of the game will in fact be watching it, so with that said it should come as no surprised that a 30 second commercial during the Super Bowl will cost you around $4 million.

Speaking of breaks in the action the half time show is always the most watched and talked about part of the event, and this year it will be performed by Katy Perry featuring a guest appearance by Lenny Kravitz.
