Solo: A Star Wars Story

After giving fans a sneak peek during the adverts of the Super Bowl the new trailer for the ‘space western’ Solo: A Star Wars Story has been released which centers on a young Han Solo and his adventures with his Wookie partner Chewbacca.

The actual Super Bowl teaser was brief, and besides showing off a new-look Millennium Falcon, and featuring the characters Lando Calrissian, Chewbacca and of course Hans Solo who is played by Ehrenreich didn’t really disclose much. However, the following day on Good Morning America Lucasfilm released the full trailer and we have learnt a bit more.

This full trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story set before the events of the original film shows off the origins of one of Star Wars’ most iconic heroes: Han Solo. In it, Ehrenreich’s Solo says that he’s been running scams since he was a kid, was kicked out of a flight academy for “having a mind of my own,” and says that he wants to be the best pilot in the galaxy. He meets with Woody Harrelson’s new character Beckett, who tells him that he’s putting together a crew. Like Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the trailer for Solo lends a new vibe to the Star Wars universe. This has much more of a gangster / heist flick vibe, with plenty of gunfights, crazy flying, and harrowing escapes along the way.

The film is directed by Ron Howard, who took over mid-project after the originals directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller left due to the infamous ‘Creative Differences’ line. It’s bound to divide opinion just like the first anthology film did, but everyone associated with the film is confident it will again be a hit, and will fill the gap before the next franchise film Star Wars: Episode IX which is scheduled for a late 2019 release, before another offshoot anthology film comes out in 2020.

Set for a May 25th release you can check out the trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story below.
