Carbon Fibre Lego Bricks

We don’t really need to justify playing with Lego, but American Mark Carpenter and his 3 children have just made it a lot more grown up by designing carbon fibre versions of the brick.

They don’t actually have any affiliation with the Lego brand itself, but they fit perfectly onto original blocks, so the options of using them are endless, whether that’s glamming up a car, or strengthen up a structure to name a couple.

As with many weird and wonderful inventions of the past few years once Mark had his idea he took it and set up a Kickstarter page asking for $8000 in exchange for different quantities of the brick. The response was tremendous, and when the project finished last week it was backed 185%.

If you backed it heavily enough it worked out at only $1 a brick, which is great value considering they come from 3mm sheets of high-gloss aerospace-grade carbon fibre.

The first set of bricks have only come in gloss black and are only in the 1x2 title, but since the demand is quite clearly there we expect many more colours to be produced in various sizes, and Mark has stated that he is also looking into producing the bricks in aluminium and stainless steel too.

Now it’s just a case of deciding what to build with them!
