We love a good bit of photography here at Van Mildert HQ , so when we heard about the first annual Dronestagram Photo Contest we couldn’t wait to have a ganders.
Held by drone photo sharing website Dronestagram in conjunction with National Geographic France, Go Pro, Drone Shop and a host of other companies, the Dronestagram Photo Contest 2014 is our first real look at the real potential of this relatively untapped form of photography and it is safe to say, the future looks bright.
Anyone was free to enter as long as their photograph was taken by a drone connected to a radio-controlled camera, leaving way for some spectacular entries from around the world.
The overall winner (and rightly so) was an amazing close-up shot of an eagle in flight over a national park in Bali (shown above) which was taken by Dronestagram user Capungaero. Other winners included a birds-eye view of the Tamul waterfalls in Mexico, a couple of stunning French scenery shots and a blazing firework show over a Bulgarian football stadium - see them all for yourself below.
