LA Store & Reflective Research Exhibition
We take a look at the Stone Island Pixel Reflective jacket following the opening of their Los Angeles store. Occupying a space over 3,000 square feet in size, the new store is now host to numerous pieces from the Italian menswear brand’s Spring/Summer collection. In conjunction with the store’s specially selected curated collection, Stone Island showcases their Reflective Research ‘992-‘015 exhibition.
The L.A. based exhibit follows on from its previous home in Milan and New York last year. Commenting on the exhibition, Carlo Rivetti said: “With this project I’m not really interested in selling clothes, but the goal is telling the story the company and growing the brand awareness among people in the United States.”
The brand’s exploration of reflective technology has only served to bolster their reputation for pioneering and constantly evolving the technicality behind their garments. Displaying a wide array of present and archived pieces, the exhibition focuses on Stone Island’s experimentation with textiles, categorising the collection into relevant sections. Mesh reflective, antique reflective, liquid reflective and even reflective knitwear.
Garment Dyed Pixel Reflective
Stone Island’s first ever experimentation with garment-dyeing on reflective fabrics. Nylon Metal, the brand’s landmark iridescent fabric, is printed with a resin-based substance encapsulating thousands of glass microspheres. The garment-dyeing procedure lends extraordinary colours to the textile base, while the finished Pixel Reflective print gives strong reflective properties, even in the weakest light.
