Michael Kors has fast risen to become one of the most aspired brands on the market. Michael's eye for clean-cut, classic clothing has projected him into the global limelight and, with recent statistics showing that the Michael Kors brand is the most searched fashion brand on the web, it is safe to say there will be no slowing down for the American designer.
No stranger to the spotlight, Kors spent his early years as a child actor in commercials for Lucky Charms, Charmin and freeze-dried apples, however he would later drop acting once he had fully realised his passion for fashion. After spending a year studying at the Fashion Institute of Technology, Manhattan, in 1979 Michael Kors decided to drop out and take up a design job at a clothes store on the city's West Fifty-Seventh Street. It was here that his potential was spotted by Dawn Mello - a future luxury fashion retail guru - who moved in to buy his complete first collection and paved the way for his future success.
After launching his eponymous brand in 1981, staging his first runway show in 1984 and then teaming up for a collaboration with legendary Scottish firm Lyle & Scott in 1985, Michael Kors was beginning to really make a name for himself around the world. His fame continued to snowball until in 1996 Kors was named one of the 'Most Influential Designers of the Decade' and from there the awards and accolades began streaming in.
Since then Kors' clothing, shoes and accessories have been seen on some of the most famous people in the world, at some of the most glamorous events around. The brand is now a market leader in various countries around the world, including USA, UK, Brazil and China, and boasts complete collections of men's and women's ready-to-wear clothing, accessories, footwear, fragrances and their much celebrated watches, handbags and purses.
