The runaway juggernaut that is the blockbuster superhero movie shows no signs of slowing down as Marvel Studios get set to release their latest film Black Panther, as it is also announced that Kendrick Lamar and Top Dawg will curate and produce its music album.
After the events of Captain America: Civil War, King T’Challa returns home to Wakanda. But when two enemies conspire to bring down the kingdom, T’Challa must team up, as the Black Panther, with CIA agent Everett K. Ross and members of the Dora Milaje—Wakanda's special forces—to prevent a world war.
Black Panther is set to be the eighteenth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following on from the hugely successful Thor: Ragnarok back in November.
In fact, talk of a Black Panther movie were uttered way back in 1992 when Wesley Snipes was rumoured to play the lead role. Fast forward 26 years and it is Chadwick Boseman who has landed the part atop of a notable support cast.
Directed by Ryan Coogler and Produced by Kevin Feige the film is set for a UK release on February 12th - 4 days before the US.
And in the above trailer you may have noticed Kendrick Lamar lending his vocals. In fact, it goes further than that. Marvel have announced that Black Panther: The Album will be produced by Lamar, Anthony ‘Top Dawg’ Tiffith, and Top Dawg Entertainment.
And the star-studded soundtrack already has it’s first single as Kendrick has released ‘All The Stars’ which also features table-mate SZA.
