Kasabian and Arcade Fire to Headline Glastonbury 2014

Adding a further 87 names to this year’s line-up, Glastonbury organisers have today announced that Kasabian will headline the illustrious Pyramid Stage on the Sunday to close the legendary music festival. Ending months of speculation, the Leicester rockers will join the already-announced American headliners, Arcade Fire, as well as the likes of Paolo Nutini, Dolly Parton, Lily Allen, Blondie and Pixies, to name a few.

"It's really important for us to keep giving British bands that opportunity to headline here," organiser Emily Eavis told the BBC - "Kasabian are a massive live act, they're brilliant live. It just seemed a sort of natural choice for us."

With the Saturday headline spot still in the air, Eavis confirms "We've got it all booked, it was all confirmed a couple of weeks ago. We can't give you that yet, just for contractual reasons, but it will be with you soon. The full line-up, the thousands and thousands of acts, will be with you in May. This is a few hand-picked acts to give you a taster."

Although Prince was heavily rumoured to snatch the final headline slot, Emily Eavis quashed these reports by stating he won’t be appearing this year but they’d certainly love for him to grace the stage in the future. Other superstars such as Fleetwood Mac and Adele have been mooted in the press as possible closing acts for the Saturday. However, as we get closer to the most talked about event of the summer, bookies' odds for California hard rockers, Metallica, to take their epic live show to Worthy Farm for the first time in the festival’s history have been slashed.

Tickets to Glastonbury 2014 sold out in record timing with 120,000 being cleared in just 87 minutes. However, if you weren't one of the lucky few to grab one of the most sought-after pieces of paper on the planet, re-sale tickets are available from April 24 over on the official site.
