Gotham – The Dark Knight Returns To The Small Screen

Following on from the hugely successfully and sinisterly dark  Christopher Nolan blockbusters, the Batman legacy returns - this time, however, to our TV screens as an original series.

Much like Nolan’s Dark Knight masterpieces, the Gotham series will encapsulate the murky mood of an overcast city crawling with evil, ditching Arnold Schwarzenegger's frosty puns of the nineties in favour of a dialogue-led, compelling crime thriller.

Starring Ben McKenzie as a young Detective James Gordon, the prequel will explore the early career of Gotham’s future police Commissioner and, in particular, his investigation into the high profile case of Bruce Wayne’s parents’ murder. Along the way, Gordon will discover the sinister criminals of the city's eerie underworld, and will feature popular DC Comics villains Penguin, Riddler and Catwoman, played by Robin Lord Taylor, Cory Michael Smith and Camren Bicondova respectively.

The Warner Bros. series is expected to air towards the end of 2014, so keep your eyes open. If you can’t wait that long, check out the trailer below to whet your appetite.
