The Dark Tower

Based off a series of novels by Stephen King, The Dark Tower tells the story of an ultimate battle between good and evil, with the fate of the Dark Tower itself key as to whether the universe survives or perishes.

Their war. Our world.

The last Gunslinger, Roland Deschain, has been locked in an eternal battle with Walter O’Dim, also known as the Man in Black, determined to prevent him from toppling the Dark Tower, which holds the universe together. With the fate of the worlds at stake, good and evil will collide in the ultimate battle as only Roland can defend the Tower from the Man in Black.

Released by Columbia Pictures it is directed by Nikolaj Arcel, with production by Akiva Goldsman, Brain Grazer, Ron Howard, and Stephen King himself.  Idris Elba takes on the role of Deschain, with Matthew McConaughey taking on the role of O’Dim.

The Dark Tower was originally a series of eight books from 1998 to 2012 written by American author Stephen King that incorporates themes from multiple genres, including dark fantasy, science fantasy, horror, and western.
And with a book to film catalogue of over 60 titles that include Carrie, Cujo, Christine, Stand By Me, The Running Man, The Shawshank Redemption, and The Green Mile to name a few, expectations are high.

Take a look at the trailer below, and if you enjoy the full film when it hits the big screen on August 18th you’ll be pleased to know that a tv series is also in the pipeline for 2018 with Elba retaining his role.
