Actor, turned comedian, turned rapper Big Shaq is back with the follow up to the unexpected platinum smash hit Man’s Not Hot. He can be seen not dancing in a variety of places in the run up to, and at his wedding in Man Don’t Dance.
It all started out as some freestyling on his Instagram account which proved popular for Michael Dapaah. This lead to him performing something similar on the mockumentary SWIL (Somewhere In London), however it wasn’t until he appeared on BBC Radio 1Xtra and performed an extended version on Charlie Sloth’s ‘Fire In The Booth’ segment that things really went crazy.
10 million views online across the BBC’s YouTube and Facebook pages prompted Big Shaq (as he was now called) to released it as a single, which garnered extensive play on Radio 1.
With lyrics such as “The ting goes skrrrahh/ Pap pap ka ka ka/ Skibiki pap pap/ And a pu pu pudrrrr boom/ Skya/ du du ku ku dun dun/ poom poom” it shouldn’t have been a success, but what happened was just the opposite. It became a viral sensation.
The video that accompanied it featured the likes of Waka Flocka Flame, Lil Yachty and DJ Khaled all of whom had become huge fans of the song after hearing it, with Khaled who had previously worked with the likes of Drake, Chris Brown, Busta Rhymes, Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Snoop, Nicki Minaj, Kanye, Kendrick Lamar calling Shaq a ‘Legend’.
The single went Platinum in the UK, went to number 3 in the charts, and ended 2017 as one of the top 100 songs of the year!
Fast forward top now and Big Shaq has released his follow up single and accompanying video. Man Don’t Dance.
The humourous video see’s Big Shaq not dancing in various locations such as a ballet studio, in the desert, on a yacht – all as he tries to impress his girl - and even after he is successful, at his own wedding.
