After months of anticipation the moment fans across the galaxy have been waiting for, the arrival of the second Star Wars:The Last Jedi trailer, is finally here……and it doesn’t disappoint.
The trailer focusses on Rey’s training under Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren’s continuing descent towards the dark side. Chewbacca, Princess Leia, Finn and Supreme Leader Snoke all make fleeting appearances but the trailer definitely sets up Episode 8 as a juxtaposition between the Jedi and the Sith, in the form of Rey and Ren respectively.
The long-awaited return of Mark Hamilton, as Luke Skywalker, adds another dimension to this ever-growing story and fans will be hoping his appearance will answer numerous questions that were raised in the previous film.
The Last Jedi also promises to be an emotional affair too, as it will be Carrie Fisher's - who plays the beloved Princess Leia - last appearance on the big screen. Fisher passed away aged 60 in late December, but with her scenes already filmed.
Released by Disney and directed by Rian Johnson The Last Jedi is the second film in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, following The Force Awakens, and despite its end-of-the-year release date is still set to make the list of highest grossing films in 2017, which already features 3 Disney films, including the top spot which is held by Beauty and the Beast.
Also a few hours before the trailer dropped the franchise released a new poster for the film, which can be seen above, and in a nice touch features Carrie Fisher in the centre.
Also keep an eye out for sets of eight promotional postage stamps that are set to be released on October 12, 2017 in the UK by the Royal Mail with artwork by Malcolm Tween.
Check out the trailer below, which has already been watched 5.5 million times in its first 7 hours. Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15. For more information please check out the official website here.
