Canadian Poutine with Green Onion and Bacon Bits - Recipe

For a dish that can quite often look like a meal gone wrong, Canadian delicacy Poutine is fast becoming one of the hot new street foods in trendy eateries worldwide.

Originating in Quebec, this succulent mix of chips, cheese curds and gravy has been commonplace on Canadian menus since the 1950s and can be found in the vast majority of the country’s diners, pubs and chip wagons but as word spreads of this culinary delight, more and more adventurous ingredients are being added to the mix.

Here, ahead of his trip to The Great White North, Van Mildert SEO Copywriter Jake Gauntley shares with us a quick and easy to make adaption of Canada’s favourite dish.

Easy Homemade Poutine with Green Onion and Bacon Bits

Ingredients:
- French fries (baked for best results)
- 1 Package of instant gravy
- Cheese curds
- Green onion
- Real bacon bits

NOTE: Cheese curds can be pretty hard to come by in the UK, if there’s none in your local supermarket then try asking for ‘twarog’ in any Polish food store.

How to make:
1. Set oven to broil.
2 .Bake french fries (glazed in oil, salt, pepper and garlic)
3. Cook gravy according to package directions.
4. Layer fries with cheese curds, green onions and bacon bits in an oven safe dish.
5. Pour gravy on fries.
6. Place in oven for about 5 minutes until cheese has melted.
Enjoy!
