Harley Davidson have been bringing joy to petrol heads worldwide for over 100 years but their latest unveiling showcases the first in a next generation of motorcycles for the brand.
Dubbed ‘Project LiveWire’ the brand’s latest bike runs entirely on electricity while still retaining the power and brutal-yet-beautiful aesthetics for which Harley Davidson are renowned.
Modelled on a classic sports bike look with exposed trellis frame and polished metallic features but without the usual roaring petrol engine, Harley Davidson have promised that the LiveWire will boast ‘tyre-shredding acceleration and an unmistakable new sound’.
Definitive specifications of the bike are yet to be released but it thought that the LiveWire will be powered by a 74hp electric motor, producing a top speed limited to 92mph.
The Harley Davidson Project LiveWire is currently on a tour of official dealerships along America’s iconic Route 66, where fans, fanatics and those who are simply intrigued are invited to come along and test drive the motorbike before its eventual release at a yet-unspecified date in the future.
After completing the Route 66 tour Harley Davidson will bring their electric experiment over to the UK and mainland Europe for another round of transatlantic try-outs.
