'We must confront the reality that nothing in our solar system can help us. We are not meant to save the world, we are meant to leave it.'
British filmmaker Christopher Nolan is back this autumn with his highly anticipated sci-fi picture, Interstellar. With frustratingly little revealed about the plot starring Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway, cryptic trailers and impressive posters offer the only clues as to what is in store.
McConaughey plays Cooper –a trained pilot, engineer and widowed father – who leaves his children behind on an almost uninhabitable Earth in an attempt to discover a means to preserve humanity. Cooper, along with a group of fellow explorers (Anne Hathway, Michael Caine, Casey Affleck and Jessica Chastaine), make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the immeasurable distances involved in an interstellar voyage.
The film – shot in Canada, LA and Iceland – will open in theatres November 7, watch the trailer below.
