We think it’s fair to say that any person who can fulfil a terminally ill child’s wish is pretty much a superhero, and this has never been more true than in the case of 29-year-old Australian man. Literally!
Zac Mihajlovic from Camden, Sydney had always been a huge fan of the Batman films, and one day came up with the idea of making his very own replica of the Batmobile. It took four years to build with the help of his Grandfather who is a former engineer, but the end result was spectacular, and culminated in the only street legal version of the car in the world.
It is identical to the car in the 1989 movie and even includes the fully working afterburner taken from that exact vehicle. The only thing it doesn’t have is a machine gun, grappling hooks, and smokescreen capabilities – for obvious reasons.
Once he started going out and about in the Batmobile – you know, like down to the shops to pick up the groceries – he naturally started to get some attention from the public and once the media caught on to it the offers started to flood in. Most of the offers were of the monetary variety, including a hefty six figure sum from an Arab Sheik, but they were all dismissed in favour of a different kind of offer.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation got in contact to say that they had had numerous wishes from children with life-threatening medical conditions who would love to have a ride in the Batmobile.
Zac thought this was a wonderful idea but thought he could add even more to this experience so he went out and bought himself a replica Batman outfit. Now the kids get the chance to actually meet Batman and take a spin in the Batmobile and creating that kind of happiness is something that money simply can’t buy.
